As the people of Judah start to realize God's punishment is real, they are ready for their exile to be over.  God will give them comfort then commands.

Today we will cover the third servant song and His comfort for His people.  

God confronts Israel's lack of faith.  Israel says, "The Lord has forsaken me."  Yet God remains steadfast and the Lord's servant remains faithful through trials.

Israel thinks the LORD has forgotten His people, yet the LORD remains faithful. God says I AM the LORD your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

In an autobiographical fashion, Jesus tells us of HIs call in Isaiah 49.  The first Servant Song in Isaiah 42:1-9 was biographical.

We saw the Conqueror, God, went before to destroy Babylon. Now we will see in today's passage why God had Babylon quickly and decisively conquered.

The idol does not move, it does not answer. I am GOD, there is none like me. I bring near my righteousness and my salvation will not delay.
